Recently I tried to upgrade my Intel Macbook Pro from 10.7.5 to Mountain Lion (10.8) and was told by Apple that it would not run on that computer - it was simply too old. My advice to new users then is: do not put yourself at the mercy of the manufacturer - buy a DAW that is cross platform (will run on either pc or mac).
