Dead or Alive has always been known for its polished visuals, and Dead or Alive 6 is no exception. All of the characters, movements, and environmental effects are sharp and detailed. Blood, bruises, ripped clothes, and other damage effects shown are a constant reminder that fighters rarely leave a match unscathed.

Dead or Alive 6 sports a robust fighting system, but the framework around it doesn’t capitalize on that. While the tutorial and DOA Quest mode do a decent job of getting you up to speed on what makes combat tick, the awful story mode does it no favors, and the barebones online puts a damper on what could have been a second wind for the series. 

Dead or Alive 6 offers a number of other modes to take part in; arcade, survival, time attack, versus, and so forth. The whole package brings you the tools that you would expect to see in any modern fighting game, and it really cant be faulted on that front. There’s also a very intuitive tutorial system in place for newcomers to take to. 

Dead or Alive 6 isn't the full-blown sequel to Dead or Alive 5 that we were hoping for. It's been over six whole years since the previous game first launched back on the PS3, and three years since ... 

Dead or Alive 6 could've helped mitigate that problem, and not by taking away on the skimpy stuff. It just needed to bring a lot to table and show once again the series is fantastic. In truth, it does a lot right. There are many high points about the game and it delivers in plenty of areas that matter.
