The plot of XCOM: Chimera Squad is basically the best 80’s sci-fi buddy cop movie that never happened. After the Elders are defeated at the end of XCOM 2, the ruling Advent alien occupying force quickly crumbles. Humans retake the earth, set up a new government, and start rebuilding the planet. 

Firaxis Games add a new spin to the XCOM formula with the more action-heavy and streamline XCOM: Chimera Squad to mixed results.
