If you're familiar with Razer's recent Huntsman Elitekeyboard, you've already seen the BlackWidow Elite’s basic design. The plain black plastic chassis is nothing special, but the elegant, elevated keycaps reflect subtle backlighting back onto the keyboard's surface. Off on the left side, you've got a USB pass-through and a 3.5 mm audio cable pass-through. In the upper right, you’ll find discrete media controls, with aesthetically pleasing circular buttons, and a ridged dial that you can use to control either the volume or the lighting levels. It's an attractive package all around. At 17.5 x 6.5 inches (without the wrist rest, which adds about 3.5 inches), the BlackWidow Elite isn't the smallest full-size keyboard out there, but you should have no trouble fitting it on a standard desk. Some users may miss the row of dedicated macro keys, but it's easy enough to reprogram the top row of Function buttons to the same effect. Jun 01, 2020 ·  The Corsair K57 RGB Wireless Gaming Keyboard is a decent gaming keyboard that has features found on higher-end keyboards, but with rubber dome switches. It has full RGB backlighting and individually-lit keys, which you can customize from its software. 

First things first: The K57 is enormous. Measuring 19.0 x 9.0 inches with the removable wrist rest (19.0 x 6.5 inches without), it's almost 2 inches longer than some other full-size gaming keyboards. This is mostly to accommodate the extra column of macro keys, so measure your desk accordingly before you invest in one. Otherwise, the K57 looks pretty plain. It's got a black plastic chassis with a glossy bar at the top that collects fingerprints like gamers collect unplayed Steam backlog. There are six buttons in the extra row of keys, and seven discrete media buttons in the upper-right: mute, volume down, volume up, stop, skip back, play/pause and skip forward. I prefer volume dials to separate buttons, but the media bar is good to have, either way. There are also extra buttons up top for macro recording, brightness adjustment and locking keys that could accidentally take you out of a game (like the Windows key). Sticking with the traditional black and yellow packaging with the instantly recognizable Corsair branding, which will be familiar to most, we have the keyboard sitting snug waiting to get out. The front of the box shows the keyboard in all its glory with a brand logo and the keyboard model in bold lettering. The rear of the box shows the keyboard with the palm rest attached. It lists the contents of the box and states a few of the features in a selection of languages. On the side of the box, we have the serial numbers and hardware requirements for using the keyboard. Ok, let’s get this thing out! In the box is, of course, the K57 RGB keyboard, the detachable wrist rest, USB data/charging cable, warranty information and instructions. The USB wireless receiver is tucked away in the back of the keyboard.

In case you've never used a gaming keypad, they're interesting little devices. Rather than a full-size keyboard, you get about 20 keys placed on a mitten-shaped chassis with a wrist rest, an analog stick and a few other buttons. From a design standpoint, the Razer Tartarus Pro is extremely similar to the Tartarus V2 Chroma. There are still four rows of numbered buttons (19 altogether), a scroll wheel, a button to switch profiles, an analog stick (we'll get back to this), a thumb button, a hard palm rest and a soft wrist rest. Imagine a keyboard/mouse hybrid crafted with a one-handed player in mind, and you'd probably come up with something similar. The problem with the Razer Tartarus Pro is that it's a little hard to reach everything, and the inflexible palm rest creates some friction when you need to move your hand around. If you lay your palm on the palm rest and your wrist on the wrist rest, as Razer intended, you can access the middle two rows of buttons pretty easily, but you...

The Logitech Slim Folio Pro is a tough backlit keyboard case that's also wonderful for typing, but its bulkiness can be a bummer.
