And there you have it. Intel put out their six-core Core i5 11600K to fight off the Ryzen 5 5600X, and yes, it is barely able to do so in a default reference-clocked environment. Remember, motherboard tweaks will considerably increase performance a notch, at the cost of more heat and energy, of course. We test reference performance in this article. Is it enough? Well, I guess that depends on who you ask and whether you are an AMD or Intel guy. The reality is simple with even the fastest unobtainable graphics cards; you'll see differences and exceptions here and there on both sides in between Ryzen 5600X and 11600K 11th gen Core processors. So it becomes a matter of preference. Intel surely has stepped up in IPC alright; however, 14nm fabrication is fighting against them. The weird conundrum is that you need to realize that it is amazing that Intel can even achieve this level of performance on 14nm, on that other the flip coin side, it is also amazing that Intel is still pierced stuc... 

The second CPU in our media kits this year was the Core i5-11600K; it's the bottom of the K series of processors this time around and is the CPU most of you will become familiar with as its market price puts it under that magic $300 price point. 11600K benefits from all of the technology built into the Z590 platform, including a massive amount of connectivity options while being compatible with Z490. 11600K carries a 125-watt TDP, with six cores, 12 threads, and a base clock of 3.9GHz. Boost works out differently for this SKU as it doesn't benefit from ABT but does use Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 to reach 4.9GHz on single/several cores and an all-core turbo of 4.6GHz. 12M of Smart Cache pairs with 44 platform PCIe lanes and JEDEC memory support at 3200MHz using 500 series chipsets. May 04, 2021 ·  The Intel Core i5-11600K is quite a nice option if you are looking for a processor primarily for gaming. It offers a noticeable upgrade over its predecessor, and can even match the Core i9-10900K in certain games. At $262 (~RM1075), it is positioned at the exact same price point as its predecessor, which it handily trounced. 

Starting with Cinebench R20, we see a very impressive 20% performance uplift for the 11600K over the previous generation and while that wasn’t enough to beat AMD's 6-core offering, it did get Intel up to speed. The 5600X is just 3% faster which is a negligible margin. Basically, it appears as though AMD’s simultaneous multi-threading technology is still a bit more powerful because when we look at single-core performance, Intel is able to match AMD as both the 11600K and 5600X produce a score of around 600 pts. The gains in the 7zipcompression benchmark aren’t as impressive, though we’re still looking at a solid 14% uplift over the 10600K. For Intel that meant the new 11600K trailed the 5600X by a 12% margin in this test. We’re also looking at a 14% uplift over the 10600K for decompression work, and again Intel’s SMT implementation isn’t as effective as AMD’s, resulting in a 19% deficit to the 5600X. Intel’s 10th gen Core series was particularly weak for AES-256 encryption, but here...
