The 2019 MSI GS75 Stealth is pretty much the same design as last year. I never reviewed that one, so I’m going to go into more detail this time. Firstly, I’d like to say that the overall design certainly feels portable. It’s thin, symmetric, lightweight and balanced. Carrying it around was easy and at no point did I ever feel like I was carrying around a 17” laptop. The entire casing is made of an anodized aluminum alloy, black in color and with a matte finish. Unfortunately, that means it’s a fingerprint magnet, as it didn’t take long to start seeing oily residue on the usual spots. It’s not much different than I saw with the GS65 really. It’s not a unibody design, but rather has top and bottom panels that are screwed together onto a plastic inner chassis. It’s probably what keeps the weight down, but it also comes at a cost of sturdiness. Now, it’s certainly not as bad as I saw on the 2018 GS65, as that unit creaked pretty much every time I picked it up. This laptop doesn’t creak...

The MSI GS75 Stealth-248 comes equipped with a state of the art, 9th Generation Intel Core i7-9750H processor. This six-core powerhouse features 12 threads, 12 megabytes of cache size, a base frequency of 2.6 GHz that goes up to 4.5 GHz in turbo mode. It does consume a considerable amount of power, namely 45 Watts, but it’s understandable and completely normal, considering how powerful it is. Cpubenchmark.net rates the 9750H at 13700 points, which essentially means that any game you can think of will be playable. Also, you can throw just about any task at it and it’ll complete it without any hiccups whatsoever. Exceptional would be an understatement. MSI GS75 Stealth Review – Conclusion The design of the MSI GS75 Stealth is amazing and incorporates an incredible amount of power into a 0.7-inch slim chassis. I am also impressed by the fact that the GS75 Stealth’s display is so much better than its predecessor and that these vivid images are accompanied by quality sound.

I’ll give the MSI GS66 Stealth this: It doesn’t look like your average gaudy gaming notebook. No, this is pure class -- at least as far as gaming notebooks go. The aluminum chassison the GS66 Stealth comes in black this year (or as MSI calls it, “core black,” with the dragon shield logo in tone-on-tone black on the lid. The 15.6-inch display is surrounded by three small bezels on the top and sides and a thicker one on the bottom. On the black aluminum deck, there’s a dotted pattern up top for air intake above the keyboard. The keys are RGB-lit on a per-key basis, which you can customize in the SteelSeries 3 software. There’s also a large touchpad flanked on each side by slits for top-firing speakers. Notably, there’s no fingerprint reader or IR camera on the device, so be prepared to type your passwords. On the left side of the laptop lives the port for the barrel charger, Thunderbolt 3 (which can be used for charging, but not to power the device while gaming), HDMIand USB 3.2 Gen 2...

Aside from the internals, the display is the biggest change to the MSI GS66 Stealth this year. It now has the option for a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution IPS screen, measured diagonally at 15.6 inches. While 1440p screens are still a rarity in laptops, that’s the case even more so on gaming laptops. The primary reason, of course, is that the older GPUs were never powerful enough to push that many pixels at fast enough frame rates to please gamers. A refresh rate above 60Hz never would have made sense. The MSI GS66 Stealth handles 1440p beautifully in most games. And while 240Hz might be a little overkill, it’s much more versatile than the 300Hz 1080p models. Because this is a new panel, I also wanted to test image quality and make sure MSI didn’t cut any corners. They were some surprises, to say the least. The color saturation is the real shocker. At 100% sRGB and 98% AdobeRGB, this panel is significantly more colorful than your average 1080p gaming screen. If it wasn’t for the poor color...
