The Hero 8 Black may lack a couple of features that you can get on its successor (namely, a front-facing screen and 5K video), but it's still a fantastic all-rounder that's compatible with GoPro's... 

In this GoPro Hero8 Black review, we’ve found it to have excellent quality. It’s not the best camera for night filming, and it’s a bit expensive, However, great quality comes at a price. 

The Hero8 Black is the only camera in the Hero8 series, unlike the Hero7 series which had three cameras: Black, Silver, and White. GoPro released the Hero8 Black along with the MAX in October 2019, I wrote a detailed comparison of these two cameras, so if you are interested, make sure to check it out. 

Despite the Hero8 Black not looking too different to the Hero7 Black, meaningful enhancements set it apart from its predecessor. On the front is a familiar monochrome display, but alongside it is a fixed lens with no removable glass protector. Instead, the lens is shielded by scratch and smash resistant glass that’s 2x more durable than that of the Hero7. Naturally, this means third party ND filter options won’t be quite as convenient - no simple screwing on, but GoPro claims the move to a fixed lens means the microphone below it can capture better audio - and the mic is indeed, better. At the base are the folding feet, which fold out like butterfly wings, closing to create a traditional action camera mount. A removable waterproof door is on the left, underneath which is a microSD cardslot and battery, and on the right is a power button. Up top, there’s a record button, while to the right is a power button. It’s a bit taller and thinner than its predecessor, but generally speaking p...

Olympus E-M5 Mark III Review Olympus E-M5 III Overview First introduced in October 2019, Olympus OM-D E-M5 III is a 20.0MP Advanced Mirrorless camera with a Four Thirds (17.4 x 13 mm) sized MOS sensor, built-in Image Stabilization, Fully articulated touch screen and Micro Four Thirds lens mount. 

Starting with the physical shape and ergonomics of the camera, the overall design and styling of the Mark III is, unsurprisingly, remarkably similar to the Mark II model, though it does share some controls and button layout elements brought over from the E-M1 II. The overall physical characteristics are incredibly similar to the E-M5 II, as well, with nearly identical physical dimensions and the same general shape. And for us, that’s a good thing. The weight is somewhat similar, but the E-M5 III is actually a bit lighter than the predecessor. The E-M5 Mark III incorporates more polycarbonate plastic into its construction than the Mark II, which utilized more mag-alloy. (However, the exact specifics on how the two body constructions differ was not specified by Olympus.) Despite the change in its construction, the E-M5 III maintains Olympus' hallmark weather-sealing performance, with robust dust, moisture and freeze resistance. In hand, however, I'd be hard-pressed to tell much differ... 

Intro The Olympus OMD EM5 Mark III is a mid-range mirrorless camera aimed at photo and video shooters who value portability and handheld use without compromising features and quality. Announced in October 2019, it’s the long-awaited successor to the EM5 Mark II launched four and a half years previously. 

In almost every respect, the Mark III is a well-judged update, with a range of internal improvements and external design tweaks that aim to bring its core capabilities up-to-date. The headline upgrade is that 20MP sensor along with the TruePicVIII processor, and while the increased resolution compared to its 16MP predecessor is welcome, the phase detection autofocus is far more important, as it transforms the camera’s ability to focus on moving subjects. You don’t quite get a mini E-M1 II, however, as the E-M5 III can’t shoot as fast. Let’s take a quick tour through the core specifications. The standard sensitivity settings cover ISO 200 to 6400, along with a ‘Low’ option equivalent to ISO 64, and extended settings up to ISO 25,600. There’s a case to be made that, if Sony genuinely wanted to attract the smartphone crowd, the ZV-1 would need to feel as portable and as lightweight as a smartphone – within reason of course. The sight of bulky camera kits and elephant trunk lenses can be enough to send millennials running (myself included), so before a discussion about features could even take place, Sony would have to nail the design. Well, it’s safe to say they’ve done it. Despite its focus on video capture, the ZV-1 has more in common, design-wise, with the Sony RX series. While not quite as small as Sony’s compact cameras however, the ZV-1 made my portable Canon M50 suddenly seem a lot larger by comparison. At 10.5 x 4.4 x 6 cm, the ZV-1 can easily be placed in a pocket or a small camera bag, and you won’t get tired holding it at arm’s length. When considering the Sony ZV-1 it’s important to understand exactly who it is for. In a world of Instagram Stories, YouTube and TikTok, Sony has created a camera that is designed to appeal to creators who want more quality and flexibility than they would get from shooting with a smartphone or action camera. The aim has been to produce a camera that can shoot video clips of high quality, with little fuss, with all the photo features of the RX100 series so that users can still take those amazing travel photos for Instagram. Side by side the ZV-1 looks like a slightly bloated version of the RX100; it is a millimetre or two larger in every dimension, which accentuates the rounded edges of the camera. Hold the ZV-1 and another major change comes apparent - it has a plastic, or polycarbonate, body, as opposed to the all metal design of the RX100. Again, I would imagine this has been done to keep the cost of the camera down, but in hand the body seems solid; all the components fit very nic...

Source: bhphotovideo.com In fact, in terms of hardware, the ZV-1 largely coincides with the RX100 series. The camera uses a 24-70mm equivalent f / 1.8-2.8 zoom lens and a 1-inch 20-megapixel CMOS sensor from the RX100 V , however this is complemented by AF enhancements from the Mark VII. On the other hand, the controls and the way you work with the camera are quite different. There is no control ring around the lens and the key layout is completely different. It is also worth noting that unlike the RX100 series, Sony does not use Cyber-shot branding for this camera, and the official model name is DCZV-1, unlike DSC, which stands for digital stills camera. The camera also uses the same NP-BX1 battery as the RX100.

The new Nikon Coolpix A1000 replaces the previous A900 model from 2016, principally adding an EVF, two extra zoom controls, touchscreen control and RAW recording. In terms of size and weight, the A1000 is subsequently slightly bigger and heavier than its predecessor, measuring 114.2 x 71.7 x 40.5mm and weighing 330g, but we feel that this slight increase is worth it given the inclusion of the EVF. Or it would be, if the EVF wasn't quite such a disappointment. Maybe we've been spoiled by the viewfinder on the admittedly much more expensive Sony Cyber-shot RX100 VI, but the one of the Coolpix A1000 only has half the resolution, 1166k-dots versus 2350k-dots on the Sony, in the same 0.5cm sized viewfinder. This is a lens so long that we were able to fill the frame with a 1 meter (3.3 foot) tall monkey that's 70 meters (230 feet) away. This does come at a cost, though. 

The Nikon A1000 touts more than just a zoom that a smartphone can’t compete with — the camera is packed with physical controls and design features that are tough to find on budget cameras (and impossible to find on phones). The controls feel more like a mirrorless camerathan a point-and-shoot. Despite the abundance of controls, the A1000 weighs in at a light 11.7 ounces. At 1.6 inches deep and 4.5 inches tall, the camera can slide into most coat or cargo pockets.
