The latest Amazon Echo Show 10 smart display is unlike any other Amazon smart display as it can follow you around the room when you move. So the screen and camera are always within your gaze, whether you’re following a recipe, making a video call, or watching Netflix. The Echo Show 10’s 13MP camera pans with the screen, and also zooms automatically when you’re on a video call, making sure you’re front and center of the picture at all times. The camera can also be used for home security, with its live feed available through the Alexa app any time you want to check in on your abode. Amazon offers three different sizes of its smart display, with the Echo Show 10 sitting alongside the Echo Show 5 (second generation) and the Echo Show 8 (second generation), which has the same 13MP camera that pans and zooms as the Echo Show 10, but in our eyes the Echo Show 10 is the best smart displayAmazon currently offers. Let's start with design. The Echo Show 10 looks and feels like the front of a second-gen Echo Showperched atop a large smart speaker. It's fine. Weighing 5.6 pounds with a 5-foot cord, it's not what I would call highly portable. The base portion is covered in the now nearly traditional smart speaker fabric, available in charcoal or glacier white. That base houses the brushless motor as well as the speakers, so the round shape and 6.7-inch depth make sense, but the Echo Show 10 will take up more space on your shelf than a traditional smart display. You'll also need to account for 360 degrees of obstacle-free space, but more on that later. The Echo Show 10 is equipped with a 10.1-inch HD display, 13-megapixel front-facing camera, plus dual, front-firing tweeters and a woofer for all your audio needs. That 13-megapixel camera is a major upgrade from the 5-megapixel camera on the second-gen Echo Show or 1-megapixel camera of the Echo Show 8. It's also twice the quality of the 6.5-megapi...

Whether it's the best for you though depends on your needs and wants. 

Physically, the third-generation Echo Show 10 is a more imposing beast than its predecessor, with a screen mounted on a new and surprisingly large barrel-shaped speaker base. It has the ability to follow you around – not from room to room (thankfully), but the screen rotates to point its face at you when you are interacting with it. This requires a fair amount of space, and the Echo Show 10 now comes with a circular ‘rotation footprint template’, similar to a bib buffet, which you can slide around its body to ensure it has enough room to rotate. Amazon recommends you place the Echo Show 10 at least 15.5cm from the wall. Of course, that doesn’t mean it cannot be placed in a corner or on a shelf, but doing so will severely limit its movement and some of its biggest features. The screen is mounted on an arm at the top of the main body, which means it can be tilted manually, though it can’t yet nod sagely as you talk.
