Canon’s first mirrorless full-frame camera was the 30.3Mp EOS R. It’s billed as the mirrorless version of the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV. The Canon EOS RP, which is the company’s second full-frame mirrorless camera, sits beneath it in the range and has a fair bit in common with the EOS 6D Mark II. With 26.2million effective pixels, the RP’s sensor is very similar to the 6D Mark II’s. The feature set is also familiar, but the architecture has been reworked for the new body and RF lens mount. Canon is aiming the EOS RP at travel and enthusiast photographers. That seems to be the label that manufacturers give their crowd-pleasing cameras, and with a launch price of £1,399/$1,499, the Canon EOS RP is likely to attract a lot of attention. That price compares favourably with the current street price of the 6D Mark II (around £1,500/$1,500). That price is without a lens, but Canon UK includes the RF to EF adapter in the box. That means if you already own EF lenses, they’ll work on the RP. 

Canon EOS R Review Summary. The Canon EOS R has its fair share of both pros and cons. The EVF is great, the autofocus is excellent, and the customisation options are powerful and plentiful. On the downside, the ergonomics leave a bit to be desired, and the single card slot may be a deal-breaker for some.

Apr 13, 2021 ·  The Sony A7S III — a video-focused full-frame multi-hyphenated camera with a 12-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor. Woah, that’s a mouthful. Though, there’s not enough good things to say about this powerful new beast that just hit the market. 

When it comes to its ergonomics, the A7 III features Sony’s latest generation mirrorless body design which brings it up to date with its siblings: the A7R III and A9. The refinements to the controls and design make the A7 III appreciably easier to handle than the A7 II. The camera fits nicely in the hand, with an improved grip size making it much more comfortable to shoot with, particularly when using larger lenses. Perhaps just as important, the larger grip size also leaves more room for Sony’s enhanced Z-type battery which when used alongside the A7 III, offers the longest battery life seen on a mirrorless camera to date. Measuring 127 x 96 x 74 mm (5.0 x 3.78 x 2.5 in) and weighing 650g (22.93 oz) including battery, the A7 III is a bit bigger than its predecessor but remains highly compact when compared to a full-frame DSLR camera body.
